Callie Here. So today was a really fun day on the town. We arrived at our bed and breakfast in the afternoon after a two-hour bus ride and a really good lunch! The bus ride was really fun, it is so pretty here, I would have never imagined it to be this pretty. It almost looks fake. Right when we got to this bed and breakfast we went into the town. It was very chaotic, people are everywhere, but they are so nice. The only scary thing about the town is that the cars go very fast, they are psycho and are not afraid to run you over if you walk out in front of them. We got a lot of bracelets and some other stuff, they have a lot of fun things here. The kids are so cute! I can’t wait to go to our home stay family. This trip is sooooo much funn!!!! Ttyl……… It’s Morgan here! Just adding on to what Callie, my roomie, said, today was wonderful and the first to a great trip! Along with all the things Callie mentioned, we got the chance to go shopping in the village and make small talk with the native villagers! Callie and I even had a conversation [in Spanish] with a 14 year old girl! After getting out on the town, we started off with a vigorous scavenger hunt, it got really heated and competitive, and although my team was on top, we ended up getting in 2nd place, too bad! Haha. Well enough of that, this trip has been full of surprise and adventure! I can’t wait to go to stay with our host families and get to know more about where we are! This is going to be SO fun! Blog later!!! Love, Morgan

Are We There Yet?
Well...not quite! We arrived in Lima about 1PM (we're on the same time zone as Nashville) and after immigration, customs, money exchange, and several long and painfully slow lines at the airport to find a hotel voucher (thank you Katie McDougall for waiting in the three-hour line today), we traveled by taxi to the Hotel Melia Resort Hotel.

Morgan giving her book project report in the airport while we waited to find out where our hotel would be.
Apparently Melia is a South American chain specializing in resorts and conference centers! The hotel is very nice with big, clean bathrooms and soft, comfortable beds.

Mitchell and John already used the workout room while we waited for dinner. Flat screen TVs, robes in the room, and a sauna... wait, I thought we were here on a service trip?

Outside by the pool... you can see flagpoles in the background that have all the flags of the North and South American countries surrounding a neat monument park.
We have received such kind service so far in Peru and our hotel clerk was right when he said "I'm so sorry for your troubles, but hopefully this stay will make it worth it." The Hotel Melia is well worth it and we are again being treated to a dinner and breakfast buffet. We've all been working on using our waterbottles for all water- including teeth brushing- but this takes some getting used to. John was a few sips into a coca cola in the airport before he remembered it had ice!
Keely's had a little bit of an earache since we arrived in Miami, so we made finding a doctor a priority as soon as we arrived at Lima. The Melia staff quickly ordered us an "ambulance" (sort of like house-call doctors) and two very charming doctors came right up to her room to help. The whole process was so unique that most of the trip came in to see the little travel medical kit and the paramedics.

Their diagnosis- just the beginning of an ear infection, so they her some antibiotics. Our hotel bell hop then ran down the street to the pharmacy to fill the prescription... and the clincher is, all of this was only $20 total! Ambulance, doctors, assessment, and meds! We are all feeling much better tonight.
We've had a lot of adventures so far and everyone has maintained such high spirits and go-with-the-flow attitude.
We'll be back at flying early in the morning, with an 825AM departure to Cuzco. We are anxious to get to Cuzco and meet up with our World Leadership Leaders, Jason and Adela. We're not sure how much of the itinerary may have changed yet but we all just can't wait to see the village where we'll be working and meet our homestay families. As soon as we can, we'll have our first blog post from the Sacred Valley from a student!

Hi Families!
Our plans have changed somewhat as our flight leaving Miami (scheduled for a 1155PM departure) was delayed due to mechanical issues until Monday morning. We're now on the 845 AM flight (same flight number) to Lima. We all feared the worst (spending the night in the airport) until LAN airlines came through and put us up in the beautiful Wyndham hotel and also gave us a delicious complimentary dinner and breakfast buffet. We'll head back to the airport at 630 (just a few short hours away) and depart for Lima about 8 hours behind schedule.
We may still be able to make a connection in Lima to our final destination (Cuzco) but if not, we will be escorted by World Leadership Staff to a hotel for the night and catch the first plane we can on Tuesday morning. Everyone at the airlines has been so helpful and I was relieved to see an email from Erin at the World Leadership School before we even landed in Miami. Everyone is working hard to make sure we have accommodations and the earliest flight to Cuzco possible. We are well taken care of, your students are definitely troopers, and have been so patient as we've worked out our plans for the next few hours. Erin will be updating the blog as she finds out our final plans on to Cuzco.
Katie & I will have our cell phones on until the flight departs tomorrow morning if you need to reach us.
Thanks and good night!
